The Superfino is the finest panama we offer in our ready-to-wear selection. Until 2015, this was the highest grade (32 strands per inch) available to purchase in the UK and Europe.
Each piece is completed by a master weaver in Montecristi, Ecuador, and takes between five and six months to weave and finish. The fineness of the weave is extraordinary and it is difficult to comprehend that these panamas are woven entirely by hand.
Once completed, it is trimmed and blocked by a Spanish house that has unparalleled experience in handling hats of this quality. We use our classic fedora crown shape to produce a low, square profile, and each piece is equipped with a full brim to provide superior sun protection. A classic black ribbon and a satin sweatband complete the Superfino.
A hat for the true aficionado and one of the finest examples of artisanal production techniques that are sadly in decline.
Please note that while we try to maintain a brim width of around 7cm, each piece will vary due to the unique nature of each hood and the low availability of pieces of this quality. Before ordering, please contact us for confirmation of the brim width.

Washing
Approach shirt-washing with a delicate touch to ensure longevity. Machine washing is definitely better than dry-cleaning because the chemicals are bad for the cotton. Washing at a low temperature protects the fine fabric that the very best shirts are made from, and also helps it to retain colour for longer. We recommend washing at 40 degrees or even 30 degrees.
Drying
After washing, we advise not to use a tumble dryer, instead, we recommend leaving the shirts to dry naturally. This is because having your shirts bang around inside a hot container increases the likelihood of shrinkage.
Ironing
Ironing puts your shirts under a lot of stress and so should be approached carefully. Please take your shirts out to dry and press them while they’re still damp. This makes them easier to iron than when they’re bone dry, and ensures a smooth finish. We also recommend ironing collars and cuffs away from the edge to avoid unsightly ridges, and pulling the front placket tight to get a nice clean finish.
