Our Cashmere Commitment

Sourcing of Cashmere: The process starts with the careful selection of the finest cashmere fibers. Cashmere wool is obtained from the undercoat of cashmere goats, and the best cashmere comes from specific regions known for producing high-quality fibers, such as Mongolia and parts of China. The cashmere fibers are sorted to remove any coarse or impure fibers. Only the softest and finest fibers are used in the production of Hilditch & Key cashmere products.

From within our Factory in Scotland on the banks of the River Tweed, the selected cashmere fibers are then spun into yarns. The spinning process determines the thickness and texture of the yarn, which can vary depending on the desired end product, whether it's a cashmere sweater, scarf, or other items. If color is desired, the cashmere yarn may go through a dyeing process to achieve the desired hue. Care is taken to ensure that the dyeing process maintains the softness and quality of the cashmere.

Knitting or Weaving: The cashmere yarn is then used to create the actual garments or accessories. Cashmere can be knit or woven into various styles and designs, including sweaters, scarves, shawls, and more. The finished cashmere products may receive final touches such as hand-sewn seams, embroidery, or other embellishments, depending on the design and style.

Packaging: Once quality control checks are complete, the cashmere products are carefully packaged and prepared for distribution. Throughout the entire process, Hilditch & Key maintains a commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail. This dedication ensures that their cashmere products are not only luxurious and soft but also durable and long-lasting, providing customers with timeless pieces of exceptional quality.
